The Sphere

At the Wetzikon campus of Uster Vocational School, DOST Architects transformed a largely unused gymnasium into The Sphere, a flexible learning environment designed to adapt over time. Its structural elements can be dismantled and reused, embedding circularity into the space from the outset.

Our lighting concept draws on the circular graphics that shape the project’s visual identity and give The Sphere its name. New lighting was carefully balanced with the existing overhead luminaires to create consistent colour temperatures across both levels.

Compact, durable luminaires combine strong performance with visual comfort and can be easily dismantled and relocated as the space evolves. High-CRI light sources render the vivid colour palette with clarity, while close collaboration with the project team ensured the lighting was seamlessly integrated, technically precise, visually coherent and ready for future change.
